Pre-Purchase Examinations

PRE-PURCHASE EXAMINATIONS

Our experienced vets are available to undertake pre-purchase examinations on behalf of a prospective purchaser(s).

These examinations are conducted using the approved Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and Veterinary Defence Society (VDS) guidelines. These guidelines strictly offer either a limited two stage examination, or more comprehensive five stage examination. The value of the animal for insurance purposes, and your own preference, will dictate on the examination that is right for you.

Additional requirements including xrays may be requested by you or your insurance company as part of this examination process.

To avoid a conflict of interest, we prefer not to examine animals under our care or which are owned/presented by regular clients. However, should an alternative arrangement not be possible, then the animal’s full history will be disclosed and considered whether it will prejudice against the intended use of the prospective purchaser.

We aim to communicate our findings professionally and efficiently as not to hinder a potential transaction. Our vets are familiar with undertaking examinations of horses and ponies capable of the highest performance levels or, helping you to find your next best friend.
